For the past several years, with the support of generous donors, we have been able to provide education, care, and stability for orphaned and vulnerable children in Jalalabad, Nangarhar.What began as a small educational initiative has now grown into a complete support system for these children — helping them study, live safely, and build hope for their future.Currently, this program supports 9 children: 7 boys and 2 girls.The children attend school regularly and also receive additional educational support after school through a dedicated teacher who helps them review lessons and improve their academic performance.Alongside their formal education, the children also participate in Islamic and religious studies every afternoon. They are currently memorizing the Holy Quran, and some of them have already memorized more than half of it, Mashallah.Over the years, the students have shown remarkable academic progress:<ul><li>Abuzar and Zia-ur-Rahman started from Grade 1 and, through excellent performance and advancement exams, reached Grade 6 within only three years.</li><li>Idrees and Murtaza are currently studying in Grade 4, also after progressing rapidly within three years.</li><li>Zikria, Suhail, Abuzar, and Mursal are currently studying in Class 3.</li><li>Nabila joined the program this year and has begun her educational journey with the group.</li></ul>Some children who were previously enrolled unfortunately could not continue due to difficult family and personal circumstances. Two students were replaced last year, though due to financial limitations we were unable to add more children who also needed support.This program now supports nearly every aspect of the children’s daily lives.With donor support, we are able to provide:<ul><li>School tuition and educational expenses</li><li>Transportation costs</li><li>After-school academic tutoring</li><li>Quran memorization and religious studies support</li><li>Housing and accommodation for the boys</li><li>Three daily meals</li><li>School uniforms</li><li>General care and educational support</li></ul>Alhamdulillah, we were also able to build a dedicated room for the boys, giving them a safer and more stable living environment.Their teacher, Irshadullah Mohammadi, shared the following about the students:“These students were, from the beginning, very talented, capable, and interested in their studies, Mashallah. Since February 2022, with the support of generous donors, we have provided education, care, and stability for orphaned and vulnerable children in Jalalabad, Nangarhar — nearly four years and counting.
What began as a small educational initiative for a handful of children has grown into a complete support system for 9 children (7 boys and 2 girls) — helping them study, live safely, and build hope for their future.
Our goal: raise $14,000 to fund two full years of education, housing, meals, and care for these 9 children.
<h2 class="western">What Your Donation Supports</h2>
It costs $55 per month to fully support one child — covering school tuition, transportation, after-school tutoring, food, and general care. For all 9 children, that comes to $500 per month.
Two years of this core support comes to $12,000. Each month, as the campaign organizer, I place a $532 order through Aseel: $500 goes directly to the children's support, and $32 covers Aseel's delivery and service fees for securely getting that aid to them. Over two years, that's roughly $768 in fees — paid as part of placing the order, not deducted from donor contributions. The remaining balance of our $14,000 goal — about $1,232 — is a reserve for emergencies, medical needs, clothing, and other costs not included in the monthly budget.

<h2 class="western">The Children's Progress</h2>
Since joining the program, the children have shown real academic growth. Two students advanced from Grade 1 to Grade 6 in just three years through strong performance and advancement exams. Others have progressed steadily from Grade 1 into Grades 3 and 4, and one child joined the program this year and is just beginning her educational journey.
With regular after-school tutoring and close attention from their teacher, the children have built strong study habits and steadily improved their academic performance year over year.
A typical day starts with breakfast, followed by transportation to school. After school, the children return to the Islamic Center, an educational institution that also teaches girls during the day. There, a dedicated room has been built specifically for the boys, while the two girls live in the Center's girls' hostel. After lunch, the children have an hour of Islamic Studies, followed by an hour of free time. After dinner, their teacher — who also supervises and manages the entire program on the ground — helps them with homework and review before bedtime.
Their school teacher, Irshadullah Mohammadi, shares:
“These students were, from the beginning, very talented and hardworking. With continued guidance, they've made real progress — and I believe they'll reach even greater success in the future.”
When this program began in February 2022, it supported 12 orphaned children. At the start of 2026, 3 of them left the program due to personal and family circumstances, bringing the number of children currently supported to 9 (7 boys and 2 girls). Many other orphaned children and their families have repeatedly asked to join the program, but due to limited and uncertain funding, we have not been able to expand beyond these 9. This is part of why continued, predictable support matters: it lets us keep the promise we've made to these children — and, in time, welcome more of the families who have reached out for help.

The program is managed on the ground in Jalalabad by my brother, who tutors the children, supervises their daily care, and oversees the entire program — from schooling and housing to day-to-day operations.
